About This Episode:

Are we on the verge of revival? How will you know when revival is starting in your church and in your life? The Bible can teach us how to break out of Babylon and break through to revival.

In the mid-90s, revivals began popping up in churches all over the world. The Spirit of God began to move, stirring up a desire and hunger in people. Moves of God are on purpose, not by accident—but there are things you can do to increase the chance for you and your church.

We must overcome a major hindrance to revival and Godly change that exists in our world. It is a sense that America doesn’t want to fight back. God’s Word tells us a lot about this problem, which saw the Israelites plagued by Babylon, and later Rome.

Revival might be the answer to survival in this country.

In Revelation 18, the prophet John speaks about Babylon. Babylon represents paganism, spiritual corruption, compromise, military power, and political power. Verse 4 reads, “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.” America today is experiencing some similar things to Babylon. If believers today listen when God says, ‘Come out of her,’ we will be rescued by the power of God.

Sign of Revival: when people want OUT of what they’re in!

Worldliness you need to break away from: despair, depression, anger, victimhood, debt, defeat, self-pity, etc.

If people don’t want out of what they’re in, it’s not time. Passivity and complacency with where we are, where we’ve been, and dead, old religion will get us nowhere. Some Christians are just sitting in and soaking up all that worldliness. Come out of it! When people get tired of too much worldliness, then maybe we’ll be on the verge of a breakthrough for revival.

Further Bible Reading:

Revelation 18:4 (NIV) (Read all of Revelation 18 for the John’s revelations about Babylon)

Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.'"

Jeremiah 51:6-9 (NIV)

6 “Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives! Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord’s vengeance; he will repay her what she deserves.
7 Babylon was a gold cup in the Lord’s hand; she made the whole earth drunk. The nations drank her wine; therefore they have now gone mad.
8 “Babylon will suddenly fall and be broken. Wail over her! Get balm for her pain; perhaps she can be healed.
9 ‘We would have healed Babylon, but she cannot be healed; let us leave her and each go to our own land, for her judgment reaches to the skies, it rises as high as the heavens.’”

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV)

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
