About this episode:

We, as the people of God, must recapture the glory of God! We need God to show up with all his glory and power in our churches and in our lives so that we have something to offer unbelievers and the world at large.

In the book of Haggai the people wanted to take care of their own houses and neglect God’s house. They planted, but harvested little; ate, but weren’t satisfied; drank, but never had enough; were clothed, but never warm; earned wages put in a bag full of holes. In the present day, we do the same thing—putting ourselves first—and fall into the same traps. We might be tempted to not tithe and give to the church. We might be “too busy” or “too tired” to spend much time praying and giving our time to God.

Our lives fall into disrepair when we neglect God and His House. God sometimes has to pull back the blessing to reason with us. But we can recapture the glory of God. If we just put God’s House first and put Him first, then God will open the heavens on us and cause us to succeed and be blessed.

As believers, each of us is the temple of God. Are we taking care of His temple? Revival begins with us! Are we feasting on His Word, spending time in His Presence and making Him our priority? We do not have to struggle any longer if we would only put God and His House above ourselves and recapture the glory of God!

When people start loving God with all their hearts, revival has begun. It may have a long way to go, we may not be very good at it, but God will begin to honor that.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
Questions:
  • WHAT and/or WHO have I prioritized in my life?
  • Have I been neglecting God and His house?
  • Do I prioritize spending time in prayer and in His presence to keep myself (His temple) strong and structurally sound, or do I need to be rebuilt?
  • I know that God loves me, but do I truly love God with all of my heart, my soul, my mind, and my strength?

Episode Notes:

  • 2:08 If God starts attending [churches] in power, we’re going to know it. If God really starts moving by His Spirit in us individually, we’re going to know it. That’s what people are hungry for.
  • 2:58 Our goal as a church is to get the glory and power of God back in the church so that unbelievers and nonbelievers begin to really experience the presence and power of God, which is life-changing, really experience the life of Jesus. We as believers it’s got to start with us. We’ve got to have it ourselves so we can share it with other people.
  • 6:23 ‘If I give to God, there won’t be enough for me.’ That’s not Scriptural. Giving to God produces.
  • 8:12 Neglecting God’s House is easy to do. You think, ‘I’ve got to take care of myself. Let God take care of Himself.’ But that’s not how it works.
  • 8:14 [Lack, dissatisfaction, emptiness] is a symptom of neglecting God’s House.
  • 10:36 If you want to get God’s glory back in your church, put Him at the top of your list.
