The church has lost its voice! There is such a need in the world today for the church to step up as a bold, unafraid voice for God. But instead of being the voice of revival, the church just comes against things in society (e.g. political views, alternate lifestyles, school policies, etc.). That’s the wrong approach! If we connect people to the spirit of God, they will be transformed and change their minds on their own! So how can we remain silent and not speak the messages of God?
Today’s world is plagued by problems of inflation, immigration, rampant crime, shortages, the pandemic, etc. But it’s not the first time the people of God have faced plagues. We can look to the Israelites. How did they stop their plagues?
John the Baptist was a voice for God (see Matthew 3) He lived a set apart, holy life, and he served as a vessel only for the message of God: preaching repentance. Let’s follow John’s example and start making a highway for our God! But how? We need to repent because the Kingdom of God is here now; it’s active and giving us a choice–turn to God or turn away. If we will turn to the living God, He will drive out the plague.
If only the church would take a stand! But , the church today is so scattered, and the people of God are busy pursuing so many different loves. We’ve gotten distracted away from our first love, Christ Jesus.
It’s not too late for the church to start setting the right patterns and making right, holy decisions. It starts by putting God first. That one decision can ignite a fire for God in the church. We must be a voice for God! If we repent and return to the Lord with all our heart, then God will draw near and save us! A message of revival can save our nation.
Matthew 3:1-3 (NIV)
1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”
Matthew 3:10-11 (NIV)
10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. 11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
